Description

A beautiful edition of classic fairy and folk tales selected, edited, and translated by the award-winning translator Anthea Bell. This volume contains a small but representative selection from the Brothers Grimm's Children's and Household Tales, the most famous and influential of all the nineteenth-century folklore collections.

About the Author

The Brothers Grimm: Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were born in 1785 and 1786 respectively, near Frankfurt in Germany. The two brothers were distinguished philologists, but are best remembered for their anthologies of folk and fairy tales, which they recorded by inviting storytellers to their home and writing down what they heard.

Anthea Bell: Anthea Bell, born 1936, is an award-winning British translator who specialises in English translations of French, German, Danish and Polish works. She has translated many well known works including the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen and the Asterix comics.
